Choral Music

Though I was never in choir in high school, my aural skills instructor at the University of The Incarnate Word suggested that joining the UIW Cardinal Chorale would be a good experience for me. Eventually, I gained the confidence to join the group as a bass II, and later became the section leader. One year later, after never having been in a choir my entire life, I found myself joining the elite singing group on campus, the Cardinal Singers. This turned out to be an amazing experience, providing me the opportunity to work with the San Antonio Chamber Choir and composer Andrea Clearfield.

When I left UIW to begin my master’s degree at Sam Houston State University, I was faced with the dilemma of choosing an ensemble. I had been a band nerd since the seventh grade, so I thought joining choir would provide a more well-rounded experience for me. I was accepted into the SHSU Chorale, the top singing group on campus, as a bass II. This also proved to be a worth-while experience, providing such opportunities as singing the national anthem at the Texas Governor’s Mansion for the Governor for A Day ceremony.
