Junction is a playful saxophone quartet, loosely written in the 12-tone style. The tone row is occasionally played through in its entirety within a single voice and is occasionally split between multiple voices, but it is also fragmented and used in chunks. This piece also makes use of another compositional technique brought into light in the 20th century, as it follows the ABCBA arch, or bridge, form.
